Media Council investigates social advertisements
The Media Council of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) launched a procedure in relation to broadcasting social advertisements. The Council also assessed radio media service providers’ compliance with their obligations under public contracts.
In the call for tenders for the right to use the Berettyóújfalu 90.3 MHz frequency for community radio media services, the Media Council made the award in favour of Katolikus Rádió Zrt., the only tenderer to submit a valid tender.
Mosoly Média Nonprofit Kft. breached its broadcasting obligations under its public contract concluded with the Media Council as well as the statutory requirements for community media services in providing its permanent small-community media service, Rádió Smile, airing on 89.9 MHz in the Kiskunfélegyháza coverage area, during the programming week of 15-21 December 2025. These breaches prompted the Council to issue a warning to the media service provider and order it to refrain from future breaches.
The Media Council launched a procedure against MAMBÓ RÁDIÓ Kft. to determine whether this media service provider, operating Rádió 1 as a permanent media service on the Villány 100.9 MHz frequency, breached its obligation to air programmes in compliance with the terms of its public contract concluded with the Media Council during the programming week of 2-8 March 2026.
The Council also launched a procedure against Duna Médiaszolgáltató Nonprofit Zrt. for displaying a “National Petition” caption on the channels M1, M2, M4 Sport, M5, Duna and Duna World from 2 February to 8 April 2026, thereby violating the statutory provisions on broadcasting social advertisements and the way such advertisements are to be distinguished from other media content.
