The programme helps children to interpret media content safely and with a critical mindset, and to use modern tools and digital services wisely.
The media literacy centres offer free sessions for students aged 9 to 16, where children can learn about the digital world in a modern studio setting and in an interactive way, guided by seasoned media literacy educators.
The network operates in three main locations in Hungary:
- Bűvösvölgy Budapest - founder and first centre to welcome groups of students on Hűvösvölgyi út since 2014.
- Bűvösvölgy Debrecen – the second centre, open since 2017, awaiting children from schools in the eastern and northern regions.
- Bűvösvölgy Sopron – a third site opened in autumn 2020 to serve schools in the Western Transdanubian region.
The centres welcome groups of students and their accompanying teachers on a daily basis, in line with the school year, and also host thematic camps during the summer holidays.
Bűvösvölgy is part of the NMHH strategy for child protection and the improvement of digital competences. The sessions help young people to become active, critical and conscious media users rather than passive consumers.
