The Media Council takes action again over excessively loud advertisements

Published: 5 February 2026

As in the previous week, the Media Council of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) once again sanctioned a media service provider over the volume level of its advertisements. The body also ruled on the compliance of age rating classifications for children’s fairy tales.

The Media Council found that the TILOS Cultural Foundation, which operates Tilos Rádió, committed an infringement by failing to broadcast a sufficient volume of content dealing with local public affairs during the programme week of 13–19 October 2025, and had also breached its contractual obligations regarding the speech-to-music ratio. The body imposed a fine of HUF 60,000 on the TILOS Cultural Foundation, and obliged it to publish a notice of the violation.

RTL violated the statutory provision on the volume of advertisements, teleshopping spots, and trailers, as well as the audio alerts signalling their broadcast, on three occasions – on 16 and 17 August 2025 and on 22 September 2025. As a result, the Media Council imposed a formal warning to M-RTL Zrt.

Acting on citizens’ complaints, the Media Council investigated two children’s fairy tales with regard to compliance with the classification rules in the media services of Duna Médiaszolgáltató Nonprofit Zrt. One complaint related to the folk tale “Iván cárevics és a szürke farkas” (Ivan the Terrible and the Grey Wolf), broadcast on Csukás Meserádió at 7:30 a.m. on 5 November 2025, while the other concerned the age rating of the episode titled “The Quarrel” from the Peppa Pig cartoon series, broadcast on M2 at 9:55 a.m. on 18 November 2025. No infringement was found in either case.
