Transition to digital television
Digitalization has ushered in a new area in television. On 31 October 2013, analogue broadcasting in Hungary was replaced with modern, digital broadcasting. It was the process of the digital switchover.
In addition, this switchover also offers a number of additional services not available with the traditional system. Viewers can select from a number of free channels, and there is also a noticeable improvement in audio and video quality. NMHH ran an awareness campaign during the digital switchover to inform consumers about the change, and had equipment needed to receive digital signals installed at disadvantaged households free of charge.
