The Hungarian Media Patronage Programme of the Media Council of NMHH
Since 2011, the Council has been running the Hungarian Media Patronage Programme, which, among other things, provides funding for covering the operating costs of local and regional television and radio stations.
This patronage programme helps smaller providers to maintain a diverse programme offering and enables them to operate media services nationwide under predictable conditions and in modern circumstances. Between 2011 and 2017, the Media Council spent over HUF 7 billion to finance overhead costs, technical improvements and production of radio and television programmes. In 2013, in the years of the digital switchover, the Authority also announced a tender for the purchase of equipment required for the digital switchover of television stations. Within the DIGI2013 tender, NMHH provided HUF 250 million to 37 television stations for that purpose. For more information on the patronage programme, please visit mecenatura.mediatanacs.hu.
