The National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) held a public hearing to review the possibilities for using frequency bands that can be used to provide wireless broadband services and to assess market needs for frequency bands.

Nearly one hundred people attended the public hearing held by the authority on September 16, where stakeholders (market players, civil and non-civil frequency users, service providers, operators, manufacturers, institutions) were able to express their views on the future of certain frequency bands and frequency band sub-bands suitable for broadband wireless electronic communications services and on market demand for them. Understanding market needs is essential for the NMHH to determine the strategic path forward within the framework provided by international and national regulations. The authority facilitated the expression of opinions by publishing documents summarizing the situation identified by the NMHH in mid-August (PUBLIC HEARING on the opportunities and market demand for frequency bands available for the provision of wireless broadband services).

Those attending the hearing were welcomed by Director General Janka Aranyosné Börcs, and Péter Vári gave a brief introduction before the presentation on the authorities' plans for frequency bands that can be used to provide wireless broadband services. After reviewing the strategy, Péter Kollár and Emília Ulelay from the authority presented the summary documents and then introduced the participants to the frequency bands covered by the public hearing, namely the 700 MHz, 1500 MHz, 2600 MHz, 26 GHz, 32 GHz and 42 GHz frequency bands, as well as the 3.8-4.2 GHz and upper 6 GHz frequency bands.

In keeping with tradition, mobile operators were the first to open the discussion. They presented their ideas regarding the frequency bands that are most important to them and responded to questions on which the NMHH had requested their opinion. During the discussion, industry representatives also voiced their ideas on issues that were important to them. A global non-profit organisation, the DSA (Dynamic Spectrum Alliance), exercised its right to send its opinion to the authority in writing prior to the hearing. The NMHH also provides an opportunity for interested parties to submit their positions, proposals and comments in writing to the Authority by 12:00 noon on 6 October at the latest to the e-mail address konzultacio2025@nmhh.hu .
