Geographical survey

Pursuant to Section 83/C of Act C of 2003 on Electronic Communications (Electronic Communications Act), the President of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority carries out a geographical survey of high-speed electronic communications networks, may compile a list of geographical areas not covered by a very-high-capacity network, and may assess market investment plans for the deployment of a very-high-capacity network in the designated area.

In the context of making a geographic survey, NMHH Decree No. 9/2020 on the detailed rules for assessing high-speed electronic communications networks (the “Decree”) requires data providers to submit data on an annual basis, in accordance with the pertaining piece of legislation.

This reporting obligation applies to all electronic communications operators that in the calendar year preceding the date of periodic reporting, provided Internet access services on an electronic communications network capable of delivering mobile or fixed Internet access services, or plan to offer Internet access services on such a network in the calendar year of the date of periodic reporting, or operate an electronic communications network capable of delivering fixed Internet access services.
