Introducing the renewed “Do I have a mobile family?” lecture series
The National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) and the Momentán Improv Theatre Company (Momentán Társulat) will soon be bringing their reimagined interactive lecture series “Do I have a mobile family?” to public schools. The highly successful programme was previously aimed primarily at parents and their children, but the revised presentation will now focus on the dangers of the digital space and possible solutions, tailored specifically to the needs of schools and students.
“Do I have a mobile family?” was launched in June 2023, and over the past two years it has been aiding families across the country to create a balanced home life with digital devices, with the help of NMHH experts.
In response to the positive feedback and the demand for new lectures, Momentán Company and the NMHH have developed a version of the stage performance specifically tailored for primary and secondary school students, which will soon visit the institutions of the NMHH Partner School Programme.
The plot of the renewed play will continue to be shaped by the performers in collaboration with the audience: the company members will build improvisational situations based on student feedback, and the dilemmas and problems they raise will be presented on stage in an entertaining, instructive and interactive play. The presentation will address important media literacy issues that affect students’ online presence, such as cyberbullying, influencers, data security and online manipulation.
The new production was premiered for the first time at Momentán Company’s theatre in Budapest, in front of students from the NMHH partner schools.
As Ákos Somogyi, Head of the Authority’s Child Protection Department, said at the event: “Do I have a mobile family?” is a series of lectures – similar to other similar initiatives of the NMHH – with the primary aim of strengthening young people’s critical thinking in the online space, and thus encouraging students to use their devices responsibly and safely.
