The mission of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority is to “support the safe integration of Hungarian society, economy and culture into the digital world”. Its strategic objective is to contribute to the creation of a “safe and predictable online world”, while its stated goal is to “promote the conscious use of online platforms”. The Internet offers endless opportunities for socialising, entertainment and learning but it’s also increasingly the place where we organise our daily lives: it is here that we pay our bills, do our shopping, make our doctor’s appointments, buy our train or bus tickets, and plan our leisure time. One of the NMHH’s key objectives is to help citizens develop their digital skills.

We hope that our writings on online finance will increase digital financial awareness and help mitigate online financial risks. Our content will focus on the dangers that arise during the everyday use of online financial services and on preventing them, in line with our consumer protection and cybersecurity approach.

A significant number of the articles address the risks associated with online shopping, including deceptive commercial practices, fake reviews, fraudulent practices that proliferate during promotional periods, and consumer rights.

Particular emphasis is placed on the security issues of online payment solutions, such as the handling of bank card data, the use of online security codes, the use of digital wallets and virtual bank cards, and mobile banking. These promote the responsible use of financial services, and raise awareness of the importance of data protection.

Several of our articles deal with specific cybersecurity threats and incidents, such as call ID spoofing or events affecting payment systems. Our writings on cryptocurrencies and fintech solutions provide a balanced discussion of the relationship between innovation and risk. The quizzes serve to test and deepen knowledge.
