International Organization of Space Communications (Intersputnik)

hu

The purpose of INTERSPUTNIK was to promote the consolidation and development of satellite communications and radio and television broadcasting, and to operate a satellite system.

The organization was restructured in 2002, and member countries established a joint facility fund to ensure its operation. The contribution share of each country is determined in proportion to the channels they use. The facility fund covers the costs of scientific research and experimental editing, the design and creation or leasing of the cosmic complex, the launch and control of satellites, and administrative expenses. The profits from operations are distributed among the member countries in proportion to their contributions.

INTERSPUTNIK was founded in 1971 by eight socialist states, in accordance with Resolution 1721 (XVI) of the UN General Assembly, and currently has 24 members. Hungary is a founding member of the organization. The NMHH has represented Hungary in the organization since 2014.
