Media Council awards grants for television programmes
The Media Council of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) approved grants worth around HUF 84 million for the production of television programmes. At its meeting on 3 March, it launched a procedure for the supervision of programming obligations and verified compliance with classification provisions for several programmes.
In the fourth round of the TVÁLLANDÓ2025 tender procedure, the Media Council approved grants worth almost HUF 60 million for the production of television news programmes, more than HUF 9 million for the production of public-affairs magazine programmes and over HUF 15 million for the production of cultural magazine programmes, totalling around HUF 84 million.
The Medial Council brought administrative proceedings against Mosoly Média Nonprofit Kft. for the alleged violation by the permanent small-community media service ‘Rádió Smile’ broadcasting on 89.9 MHz in Kiskunfélegyháza of its programming obligations under its public contract and the statutory provisions on broadcasting programmes for public service purposes during the programming week of 15-21 December 2025.
The Media Council received complaints about the November and December 2025 print special editions of Bors. The Media Council examined whether the media contents in question incited hatred, encouraged exclusion or violated the rules on the protection of children in the media, and found no infringement.
Similarly, based on complaints from citizens, the Media Council examined the 20 September 2025 broadcast of ‘Megasztár’ on TV2 for compliance with the provisions on the prohibition of incitement to hatred and exclusion and classification provisions and found no infringement. Another case examined by the Media Council for compliance with classification provisions based on a citizen’s complaint concerned the 26 October 2025 episode of ‘Sztárban Sztár All Stars’, broadcast through the same media service, where it was found that no statutory requirements had been violated.
