More radio programmes to be produced with support from the Media Council
The Media Council of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) has approved approximately HUF 90 million in funding for the production of radio programmes. In addition, the Authority has referred a new case to the co-authority in Luxembourg for infringement of the classification provisions.
In the fourth round of the RÁDIÓÁLLANDÓ2025 call for applications for radio media service providers, the Media Council awarded a total of HUF 89 million 976 thousand in grants to 27 applicants for the production of news programmes, infotainment programmes and thematic magazine programmes.
The Council received complaints about two different articles published in the print edition of Magyar Nemzet and on its online outlet. The Media Council examined whether the media contents in question incited hatred, encouraged exclusion or violated the rules on the protection of children in the media, and found no infringement.
Similarly, having received complaints from citizens and thus examining compliance with the pertaining classification requirements, the Media Council established that the broadcast of “Sztárban Sztár” [All Stars] of 7 December 2025 and the “Kincsvadászok” [Treasure Hunters] episode of 11 December 2025, both aired on TV2, were not in breach of any rule.
Sorozatklub, a TV channel under Luxembourg jurisdiction, broadcast the 6th episode of the first season of the series “Aranykalitka” [Golden Cage] on 29 December 2025 at 15:12, with the rating “Content inappropriate for children under 12”, which corresponds to age category III (Not recommended for audiences under 12) according to the Hungarian rules. The regulatory review found that due to its frightening scenes, the programme should be classified under category IV (Not recommended for audiences under 16), and therefore could only be broadcast after 21:00. The NMHH notified the Luxembourg co-authority of the alleged infringement and asked it to take the necessary measures.
