Renewal in the 2100 MHz frequency band
The NMHH's decision ensures the long-term stability and continuity of mobile services.
The National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) has made a decision on the renewal of entitlements of radio spectrum use in the 2100 MHz frequency band (1920–1980/2110–2170 MHz frequency band), which expire in 2027. As a result of the renewal, the current mobile operators, i.e. Magyar Telekom Zrt., Yettel Magyarország Zrt. and One Magyarország Zrt., shall retain the entitlements of radio spectrum use for the nine duplex base blocks of 5 MHz each for an additional 15 years. The detailed conditions were agreed upon between the NMHH and the operators in a public contract.
The renewal will enhance market stability and predictability, while creating opportunities for the continuous development of networks. In the future, the operators may continue to use the frequency band under unchanged technical conditions, in accordance with the principle of technological neutrality, allowing them to flexibly adapt to user demands and technological developments, while continuing to offer their customers reliable mobile services.
The NMHH's decision contributes to the long-term availability of high-quality, modern and reliable mobile communication services in Hungary.
