More than 90 % of people between 15 and 40 browse the web, whereas the same can be said of 79.6% in the age group of 41-56 – reveals the new research approved at the meeting of the Media Council of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) this week. The body warned service providers for breaching contractual commitments and the rules on displaying age-rating, and adopted decisions on radio frequency tenders.

Decisions of the Media Council

The council warned the service provider of Rádió Antritt in Szekszárd for broadcasting less talk and fewer programmes for public service and dealing with local public life and helping everyday local life in August than it contractually agreed to. The body also warned the service provider of Nyíregyházi Televízió, as it did not indicate the age rating of its own programmes on its website on one of the days under investigation in June.

When imposing a legal consequence, the Media Council always assesses the type and level of legal consequence based on a gradual approach and the principle of proportionality by taking all the circumstances of each case into account.

Decisions about radio frequency tenders

The Council carried out the formal review of the tenders submitted for the Szombathely 107.4 MHz, Zalaegerszeg 92.9 MHz, Dunaújváros 99.1 MHz and the Szolnok 102.4 MHz local frequencies: it registered Katolikus Rádió Zrt. for the first two, Karc FM Média Kft for the Dunaújváros frequency, and Best Rádió Kft. for the Szolnok frequency. When conducting the content review of the tenders submitted for the community use of Székesfehérvár 106.6 MHz and Tatabánya 107.0 MHz local frequencies, the council called on Karc FM Média Kft. to provide missing and additional information. In each case, the service providers are the sole tenderers respectively. The council also finalised the call for tenders for the Pécs 101.2 MHz regional community radio facility.
