NMHH authorises numbering space to be used for M2M communication
nullThe National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) granted MVM NET Zrt. authorisation to use 10,000 numbers for different machines in the operator’s network to transmit and receive data to and from each other using mobile frequency.
NMHH itself has encouraged operators to take practical advantage of the opportunity to use the numbering space allocated specifically to M2M (machine-to-machine) services which are growing in importance. With the first authorisation granted, MVM NET Zrt may use 12-digit M2M communication numbers instead of mobile phone numbers for mobile data transmission packets and mobile APN data transmission access in its 450 MHz LTE mobile data transmission network almost throughout Hungary. The number range authorised in numbering space 71 (71 200 000 0000 to 9999) includes 10,000 numbers; no landline or mobile telephone services may be provided through these numbers and the authorisation is valid indefinitely until revoked.
The authorisation granted for these numbers marks the start of a new numbering space containing 10 billion numbers being made available for use for automatic communication by Internet-capable smart devices, online cash registers, on-board computers in vehicles, household appliances and other equipment, opening up the way for the development of Hungary’s digital economy. Authorised numbers will also be published by NMHH in the numbering register on its website. Searching the numbering register by type of number, the only hit for M2M communication is currently the number range granted to MVM Net (http://english.nmhh.hu/tart/index/1276/Numbering_registers).
