On 1 January 2025, the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (hereinafter: “Authority”) introduced a new classification system for electronic communications networks and services.
Pursuant to Article 52(2)(a) of Act C of 2003 on Electronic Communications (hereinafter: “Electronic Communications Act”), the Authority shall keep a public official register on providers of electronic communications services and of the services they provide.

In line with EU harmonisation, the Authority has carried out a complete review of the content of the classification of electronic communications networks and services, taking into account new technical requirements imposed by technological developments.
