What is the Internet Hotline?

Last updated: 9 August 2024

Anyone can contact Internet Hotline to report online content that may be illegal or harmful to minors.

The hotline service was launched in 2005 in Hungary and has been operated by the Authority since 2011. Similar hotlines are available all over the world, either managed by state actors or non-governmental organisations, any certain countries may have more than one at the same time. In the fight against illegal online content, we work closely and effectively with the Hungarian Police and the Anti-Cybercrime Department of the National Bureau of Investigation. Since 2012, we have also been active in INHOPE (International Association of Internet Hotlines), the organisation against the online sexual exploitation of children. We have a working relationship with social media operator, for example employees of responsible for regulation at Facebook and Google.
