Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH)
The National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) is responsible for ensuring the protection of personal data and access to data of public interest. It also facilitates the free flow of personal data within the European Union. The NAIH also performs the tasks required by European Union legislation and Hungarian laws, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
If you believe that your problem may raise data protection issues, you can lodge a complaint with the NAIH:
- As a data subject, you can initiate a data protection authority procedure by submitting a request, which you can read more about here: https://naih.hu/adatkezeles-erintettjekent-fordulok-a-hatosaghoz/adatvedelmi-hatosagi-eljaras-gdpr
- If you wish to initiate proceedings before the NAIH as someone other than the data subject, you can initiate an investigation procedure by lodging a public interest notification, but you cannot request the opening of a data protection authority procedure. Read more about the investigation procedure here: https://naih.hu/adatkezeles-erintettjekent-fordulok-a-hatosaghoz/vizsgalati-eljaras-gdpr
For more information on the NAIH procedure and the content and form of the request, please see the links above.
Please note that you cannot contact NAIH by e-mail, but you can submit your request using the e-Paper service via the Citizen Portal here: https://naih.hu/online-ugyinditas
