What are age ratings for?
It is a priority mission of the NMHH to protect the healthy mental and intellectual development of minors, to enable distributors and theatres to correctly apply regulations intended to ensure the protection of minors, and to help parents make good choices.
How are age rating signs put on motion pictures and on television screens?
Rather than a prohibitive arrangement, Hungarian age ratings merely act as recommendations aimed primarily at parents and families, and teachers.
Hungarian Media Patronage Programme
Since 2011, the Media Council of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority has been running the Hungarian Media Patronage Programme, which provides funding for independent, Hungarian non-feature films, well as for covering the operating costs of local and regional television channels and radio stations.

At its session on 25th of July, the Media Council of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) decided to award HUF 600 million for the production of television films and HUF 75.6 million for the production of radio news and infotainment programmes under the Hungarian Media Patronage programme.
