In the area of the postal regulation the NMIA – beside the preparations for the expectable market liberalisation – within its official competence conducts the licensing and notification procedures related to the entering the market of the postal service providers, registers the data stipulated by the provisions of law and keeps this register.
The authority supervises, coordinates and performs the market surveillance according to the determined plan. The NMIA investigates the postal services and service providers on the basis of the annual market surveillance plan and individual notices, approves the general terms and conditions of contract of the designated universal postal service provider.
The authority performs the submission and registration of the stamp expert licences and approves the postal equipment according to the results of the executed investigations.
The NMIA provides information on the universal postal service and other postal data of public interest, prepares proposals for the regulation on the basis of studies, market analysis and market research experiences, analyses the situation and development trend of the postal sector and prepares annual report on those for the Government.
