European Cybersecurity Month is a campaign designed to raise public awareness to the importance of cybersecurity and data protection, and educate citizens on how to protect themselves in the cyberspace. A series of trainings, presentations and conferences are held every October all across the European Union, as it is important to deliver valuable information on the subject to as many people as possible.

During the 2016 European Cybersecurity Month, a total of 492 officially registered cybersecurity programmes were offered in 32 European countries. Organised since 2012, the campaign focuses on increasing cybersecurity awareness and informs the public about the various threats found in cyberspace.

Primary weekly themes of the 2017 campaign:

  • Cybersecurity at work
  • Protection for governance, privacy and data
  • Cybersecurity at home
  • Cybersecurity expertise
