    • NMHH and Media
      The NMHH’s media-related tasks and powers are defined in the Media Act and the Act on the Freedom of the Press and Media Content.
    • Media Council
      The Media Council is an independent body of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority reporting to Parliament and possessing the status of a legal person.
    • Institute for Media Studies
      The Institute for Media Studies supports the Media Council and conducts independent scientific activities. Its work is supervised by the Media Council.

      The supervision and regulation of the electronic communications market are of paramount importance for maintaining an optimal market environment, promoting competition, and protecting the rights and interests of consumers.

      We are responsible for monitoring whether the organisations, companies and entrepreneurs providing communications services in Hungary are carrying out their activities in accordance with the rules applicable to the sector.
    • Infocommunications regulation
      We are responsible to maintain an optimal market environment, promote market competition, and create a balanced and predictable market environment for both consumers and service providers.
    • Infocommunications security
      Infocommunications security includes the performance of regulatory tasks related to the designation of critical communications infrastructure as well as administrative functions serving protection and security purposes.
    • Spectrum management
      Our aim is to use the radio spectrum efficiently without harmful interference, and to make the frequencies available for radiocommunications, radio astronomy and other non-radiocommunications applications.
    • Numbering
      Identifiers ensure the distinction between electronic communications networks, service systems, and, in particular, subscribers. The most well-known such identifier is the telephone number.
    • Electronic services
      The NMHH is the public authority responsible for trust services: it registers, supervises and controls, and takes action against spams.
    • Communication networks and infrastructure
      The NMHH performs tasks related to the licensing of communications facilities, operates the national infrastructure register and regularly assesses the geographical coverage of high-speed networks.
    • Space telecommunications
      The NMHH is also involved in the regulation and coordination of space telecommunications (satellite telecommunications). We fulfil this function within the framework of radio spectrum management and international frequency and orbit coordination.
    • Making electronic data inaccessible
      A measure taken by a public authority to ensure that electronic data — such as emails, files, cloud content or social networking data — cannot be temporarily deleted, modified or destroyed during a pending procedure.
    • Data erasure
      To protect our personal data, the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) offers consumers a free data erasure service in its non-regulatory powers.
    • Average Monthly Cost Indicator
      The Average Monthly Cost Indicator (AMCI) created by the NMHH helps navigate between landline and mobile telephone tariff plans that offer a wide range of services at different rates.

      Surveillance means the controls and procedures to monitor the application of and compliance with the postal services rule as well as the fulfilment of the general terms and conditions.
    • Authorisation, notification
      The guides available on the site help service providers to comply with their legal obligations and to operate lawfully, and facilitate the transparent completion of authority procedures.
    • Data reporting
      The data reporting obligations of providers of universal postal services and of providers of postal services that substitute the universal postal service are regulated by an NMHH decree.
    • NMHH and Internet
      The President of the NMHH may only investigate compliance with the obligations under the DSA and alleged breaches of the EU Regulation in respect of service providers established in Hungary.
    • Supervision of intermediary service providers
      An intermediary service provider is any service provider that transmits, stores or makes available content created by others in the online space.

      Violation of the DSA and the Online Intermediation Services Act. Monitoring the application of fair and transparent conditions for business users.

      Online platforms include in particular social media services, online marketplaces, app stores and content-sharing platforms.

      The “KiberPajzs“ (CyberShield) cooperation whose primary objective is joint action against financial cyber attacks and digital fraud, and information of the public.

      One of the NMHH’s key objectives is to help citizens develop their digital skills.

      The IH aims to make our online environment safer and to handle reports of online content considered to be unlawful or harmful to the development of minors.

Mobile call termination charges to be cut from 1 January

After national consultations, the Board of the National Communications Authority of Hungary (NHH) adopted a decision approved by the EU Commission, requiring the three Hungarian mobile operators to reduce their termination charges in their networks. Termination charges should uniformly fall to HUF 11.86 in three steps by 1 December 2010.

Mobile termination fees will decrease in early 2007

According to a decision adopted by the National Communications Authority's (NCAH) Board in early 2007 all three mobile carriers in Hungary have to significantly decrease the fees payable for termination in their networks, announced NCAH on Wednesday. As a result of this decision the wholesale prices of calls originated in fixed and mobile networks and terminated in mobile networks will reduce by 40 - 50 percent until 1 January 2009 to allow further reduction of the consumer prices of fixed and mobile telephone service, said NCAH's President Dániel Pataki.
