Protection of minors – age rating
As parents, grandparents or even as adults caring for the neighbour’s children, we should know what is on TV when the children are sitting in front of it. In the corner of the screen as well as in the cinema programmes, coloured circles help us all in that regard.
Age-limit circles on the radio
You may want to know how the age rating is communicated on the radio where no age-limit circles are required to be displayed before and during each television programme can be used. Radio stations are also required to rate every single programme into specific age categories.
Television content rating circles
These are masked TGA images produced for different aspect ratio combinations, which media providers can display in order to signal the content rating of programmes.
What are age ratings for?
It is a priority mission of the NMHH to protect the healthy mental and intellectual development of minors, to enable distributors and theatres to correctly apply regulations intended to ensure the protection of minors, and to help parents make good choices.
How are age rating signs put on motion pictures and on television screens?
Rather than a prohibitive arrangement, Hungarian age ratings merely act as recommendations aimed primarily at parents and families, and teachers.
