NMHH Media Council: tenders for the Budapest 98.6 MHz radio frequency can be submitted on 2 October

Published: 22 August 2017

On 21 August, the Media Council of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority made a clarification for formal reasons in its invitation to tender for the Budapest 98.6 MHz local radio frequency accepted on 25 July, therefore, the date of submission has been modified from 6 September to 2 October.

The Media Council published on 28 July the invitation to tender for the Budapest 98.6 MHz local radio frequency, however, subsequent to publishing the announcement, the Authority detected the need to modify the invitation to tender. Therefore, in order to avoid any misunderstandings and to clarify the tenders to be submitted, the Authority modified the previous invitation to tender at an emergency meeting: the reason for this is that instead of using the standard form, applicants must determine the minimum daily ratio of Hungarian music recorded within the last five years to be aired on the station in the form of a statement. The Media Act allows for the Media Council to modify the invitation to tender subsequent to its announcement, 15 days prior to the submission of the tenders at the latest.

Due to the modification, on the 21 August, the Media Council issued a new, modified invitation to tender, with a new submission deadline of Monday, 2 October. The date was determined in light of the obligatory deadline pursuant to the Media Act instead of the 6 September deadline included in the original invitation to tender.
